Pues eso, ya esta el disco de Kele, o un poco un disco de Bloc Party con otros musicos menos Kele, un disco producido en New Yoirk por con la participación de Spank Rock (XXXChange) y el sonido electo-pop con la dulce voz de Kele. Hay temas de medios tiempos, otros mas bailables, unos mas electrónicos,… un poco de todo, con cosas interesantes….. RECOMENDABLE
With Bloc Party on hiatus, frontman Kele Okereke is striking out on his own. On June 21 in the UK and June 22 in the U.S., Kele (now just going by his first name) will release The Boxer, his solo debut, via Wichita/Polydor and Glassnote in North America, South America, Southeast Asia, and South Africa.
For The Boxer, Kele teamed up with Spank Rock producer XXXChange to make an album of electronic pop. In a press release about the album, Kele said, “The key for the sound of the record was to take things as harsh and as physical as I could make it. The reason for going there was that these are the sounds that make me the happiest in the world.” – Pitchfork
Ratcheting up proceedings by collaborating with Alex Epton, aka Brooklyn remix maestro/Spank Rock producer XXXchange, Okereke’s debut proffers 10 robust tracks that owe more to the dancefloor than the indie rock stage (a trend already discernable on Bloc Party’s 2008 album Intimacy, to be fair). Doffing a hat to the likes of Gary Numan, TV On the Radio, M.I.A. and Bodyrox along the way, this is, for the most part, an album of leftfield electro/techno pop with a yearning, ruminative, songwriterly soul. Okereke’s lyrics dwell nakedly on matters emotional and existential and any song that can render an anthemic chorus from the phrase: “You’re making me older / You’re making me ill” – as All the Things I Could Never Say does – is clearly not to be confused with mirror ball escapism, even if elsewhere (On the Lam, Tenderoni) things err unashamedly toward happy hardcore. – BBC
